The Automatic - Tear the Signs Down

This could well be one of the most disappointing albums of 2010.

My Brightest Diamond - Shark Remixes

A glowing whole transcendent of any one persons vision.

Jenni Molloy - Bach ReLoaded

Molloy handles the source material with impressive authority here.

Gonjasufi - A Sufi and a Killer

A terrific, trippy adventure with something for every curious pop fan.

The Besnard Lakes - The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night

Long-time stars of the Canadian indie-rock firmament deliver a fine third album.

However, the Dixie Chicks are no stranger to controversy

March 9th, 2010

However, the Dixie Chicks are no stranger to controversy. Natalie Maines famed comment about President Bush in 2003 was heard all around the world. The comment enraged many country music fans who started a boycott of all things Dixie Chicks. Albums were burned, death threats were made, and air time was taken away. The Dixie Chicks never backed down from their comments and tried explaining their feelings to the public by stating that one could be patriotic without supporting a war. After several years of huge financial loss and abandonment of fans, the Dixie Chicks did what they do best - speak their mind through their music. Sometimes dubbed a “comeback” album, the Dixie Chicks released “Taking the Long Way” which went number one on both pop and country charts and became a gold record in less that a week. Their politically infused single “Not Ready to Make Nice” voiced their feelings of their political controversy and became an instant hit. Even though ticket sales for The Dixie Chicks have become noticeably less in several southern states, their international fame and respect has grown.

Ads is the most consistent and compelling composer of his generation.

A credible jazz album for those who never knew they liked the genre.

High on Fire - Snakes for the Divine

Tight, concise and thrillingly sharp, High on Fires latest is boundlessly impressive.

Remember the Beatles” song - ‘Rain’ - that was released in 1966? One of the reasons it hogged

March 8th, 2010

Remember the Beatles” song - ‘Rain’ - that was released in 1966? One of the reasons it hogged the limelight was its last verse, which was sung in reverse; that is, the words made sense when the recording was played backwards. That was the first time interest in backward messaging, or ‘backmasking’ as it came to be known as, developed.
