The target is the beat

March 21st, 2010

The target is the beat. The arrow is the note. If we all shoot our arrows at the target at once, chances are that the arrows end up all over the place. Experienced professionals, however, have a much higher chance of hitting the bullseye.

The no-brainer solution is to reduce the aperture of the lens to increase depth of field, or aim the camera at the object you wish to be in focus and depress the shutter button half way in order to ‘tell’ the camera what to focus on, then move the camera to center the image and depress it the rest of the way.

March 19th, 2010

CSI focuses on the Las Vegas Police Department”s Crime Scene Investigation nightshift unit headed by Gil Grissom (William Petersen), a quirky outsider whose obsessive quest for the facts and dedication to his work dominates his life. The CSI team is composed of a number of individuals with differing backgrounds and personalities - single mother Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) specializes in blood-splatter analysis, the highly competitive Nick Stokes (George Eads) specializes in hair and fiber analysis, recovering gambling addict Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) specializes in audio/visual analysis, and the rambunctious Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) specializes in materials and element analysis. Throw in hard-nosed homicide captain Jim Brass (Paul Guifoyle), CSI understudy Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda), and lab coroner Al Robbins (Robert David Hall) and all the ingredients are present for a show wrought with suspense, drama, and tension. As transients from all walks of life travel to Las Vegas to enjoy the wonders of its adult playground, increased levels of crime accompany them, and the team at CSI is determined to stay a step ahead of the criminal element

Next, the voters decided that Todrick Hall was not "Somebody to Love," despite his animated performance of the Queen classic the night before. "This has been an awesome experience," he said. "I came here to prove that I’m not just a dancer — I can also sing — and I think I did that."

Billy Corgan Reacts to John Mayer’s Sexual Comments About Jessica Simpson

Billy Corgan has some harsh words for John Mayer, following the singer/songwriter’s quips to Playboy magazine about Jessica Simpson being "sexual napalm."

As far as it pertains to her. I think for any person who has celebrity to sort of drop rocks at somebody elses feet like that — theres things you should really just keep your mouths shut on. Theres things that should just be left alone, Corgan, who is rumored to be dating Simpson, tells Rolling Stone magazine.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman believes Mayer is trying to self destruct, telling the publication, "Rather than take a year off or change his musical direction some part of it is irritating his soul to the point where hes trying to blow it up. Certainly a talented guy, but empathetically, standing on the sidelines, its hard to watch someone literally burn their career to the ground — speaking as somebody whos done it.

March 17th, 2010

One of the earliest of these was formed in Vienna in 1288, under the title of the Brotherhood of St. Nicholas. Another was the ‘ Confrerie de St. Julien des Menestriers,’ established at Paris in 1330. The members of these guilds were generally known as town pipers, and although it is probable that their acquirements, taken on an average, were little above those of the travelling musician of the present day, yet their services to the cause of music, albeit rendered unconsciously, can scarcely be overrated.

A mobile without a camera these days is considered old and out of date, they are getting better and better the number of mega pixels (the higher the number the better quality picture you can take) seems to be getting larger each month and with it the storage capacity increases to cover the larger overheads. March 16th, 2010

The cost to buy your own second cell phone, just for international travel, has now come within the reach of all travelers. As with renting an international cell phone, the cost of your calls will depend on what type of SIM card your phone uses. If you use a global SIM card, you will keep the same number in every country but your call charges will be a little higher. If you use local SIM cards you will get cheaper calls but have to buy a different one for each country you visit in the future this can start to get expensive if you are a frequent traveler.
