Dawson”s Creek (Season 1) DVD Review

fc2

Nominated for 12 Teen Choice Awards in its five-year (six season) run, including Best Drama Series, Dawson”s Creek quickly built an extensive cult following. A surprise smash hit for the enterprising WB network, the show initiated a successful string of numerous original series for WB such as Angel (1999), Gilmore Girls (2000), and Smallville (2001). Set in the fictional township of Capeside, Massachusetts, the series was nonetheless filmed almost entirely on location in Wilmington, North Carolina (although the opening theme song, ‘I Don”t Want To Wait,’ is written and performed by Massachusetts native Paula Cole). Creator Kevin Williamson (writer for the blockbuster movie Scream) is said to have modeled the characters on Dawson”s Creek after various aspects of his own self from his adolescent years

What Your Music Profile Should Say About You

1757

Your online music profile is the bottom-line essential information on WHO you are as a band, singer, songwriter and/or musician. Your music profile, as to how it fits in the big picture online, is your biography or resume that presents you to the music industry, other musicians, and your potential fans. That makes it a very important page on the Internet, right? It needs to be interesting, well-written, informative and to-the-point, for this is you marketing yourself. When writing this document, there is much to consider to make it presentable.

Sir Paul McCartney on Long Lost Beatles Song

The Beatles’ classics have entertained music enthusiasts for decades, but could a new Beatles song be on the horizon?

Sir Paul McCartney tells the Associated Press that he feels the time is right for the public to hear "Carnival of Light," a 14-minute experimental song the group recorded in 1967 that was never released.

And this particular song is not your average Beatles classic. The AP says the track reportedly contains distorted guitar and gargling sounds — and even includes McCartney and bandmate John Lennon shouting "Barcelona!" and "Are you all right?"

I did the dishes, swept the floor, dusted, made my bed, and even walked the dog

November 18th, 2008

I did the dishes, swept the floor, dusted, made my bed, and even walked the dog. I was sure that my parents noticed that I was up to something, but they know a good thing when they see it and didnt let on. Finally my mother announced that she thought I deserved a treat. When I told her I wanted a record, we made plans to go to the mall. I was sure my mother expected me to pick out one of my story 45s that cost a dollar, but she effectively concealed her surprise, when I marched up to the counter with my new Billy Joel album.

Eventually few people will purchase entertainment in any form, simply the means to produce it

November 17th, 2008

Eventually few people will purchase entertainment in any form, simply the means to produce it. As part of my Fine Arts Degree many years ago, I specialized in Photo Montage, appropriating and aggregating a variety of disparate images, and manipulating and combining them to form a new and original work. Nowadays few would ever consider going through the rigmarole of cutting and pasting printed matter when a graphics program and the Internet can provide vast more choice in subject matter and imagery.

The Fireman, Electric Arguments

Reminds us again who was the adventurous one in the Moptops.

Guns N’ Roses, Chinese Democracy

It’s still a huge triumph in the face of overwhelming odds.

Kanye West, 808s & Heartbreak

When is a rapper not a rapper? When he’s Kanye West!

Malcolm Holcombe, Gamblin’ House

The sound of a sinful angel making amends with the world and himself.

Tom Jones, 24 Hours

It seems that the hippest thing Tom can now do is sound like himself.

Dido, Safe Trip Home

She still delivers devastating blows of emotion

Amadou and Mariam, Welcome To Mali

It’s a mix of the deceptively simple and rhythmically irresistible.

Various Artists, R & S Records: In Order To Dance

This works as a flashback for the E generation

Loop, Heaven’s End/ Fade Out

Definitely ahead of their time.

Tango Siempre, Only Human

Why have ‘cordial’ when ‘real juice’ is just as widely available and costs no more?

Brad Paisley, Play: The Guitar Album

Chances are here in the UK we’ll never see him. We’ve been robbed.
